Amhold is designing the new Tallinn prison building complex

State Real Estate Ltd and Amhold Ltd concluded a contract for detailed designing of the new built Tallinn prison complex, custody facility, repatriation and asylum seekers centre and related infrastructure.

The design of the 63 900 m2 building is being finalized in autumn 2014.

Prison complex is constructed in Rae parish, Soodevalla village and modern facility should be completed in 2017 at the earliest.

Prison is designed in accordance with the highest security, energy and environmental sustainability standards. A priority is the graduated re-education, training and work education of different prisoners. Therefore the goal is to design buildings that are with optimal costs, effective space usage and low operational costs.

On the same territory with Tallinn prison complex is also planned an open prison, custody facility, administrative centre, entrance gate, surveillance centre, office rooms, rifle range, catering centre, store, residential buildings, sport facilities, training and social work centre, manufacturing buildings, security facilities and health department, which is currently located in Maardu town. Also a new repatriation and asylum seekers centre is being constructed.

1210 places are planned into the new chamber-type prison complex, 150 places into the custody facility and 100 places into the open prison. 

Amhold as a lead designer shall carry out all the engineering-technical and environmental survey, design, cost calculation and construction supervision works related to the buildings and infrastructure of the prison complex (including service facilities of the buildings – e.g. routes, roads, plazas).
