Narva border crossing complex between European Union and Russia has been reconstructed and opened
03.08.2015On July 20, 2015 was the grand opening of the Ist construction stage of the reconstructed Estonian-Russian border crossing complex (Narva Border Crossing Point) for pedestrians and motor vehicles.
Narva border crossing complex is one of the biggest terrestrial communication routes linking the European Union and Russia. The complex is located at Narva historic 13th-century built castle and bastions area. Annually over 3.6 million people are passing thru Narva Border Crossing Point. New terminal, equipped with high-technology allows people and motor vehicles faster and easier crossing of the border.
During the reconstruction the existing terminal and border crossing complex was demolished and new, nearly three times larger modern terminal building was built instead. Ist construction stage of the complex also includes 8 lanes for pedestrians, 12 lanes for motor vehicles and two separate lanes for buses.
Amhold as the head contractor performed the design and engineering technical works for the building complex. These include the architectural, structural, interior design, heating, cooling, ventilation, water and sewage, electrical and weak current solutions. Engineering-technical and environmental surveys were also performed. Solutions for roads, parking areas and greenery were provided alongside with design and solutions for the buildings automatic, security and guarding systems. Amhold also drafted construction cost calculations and is providing supervision and consulting services for the client for the construction period.
The project cost of the Ist stage of reconstruction of the border crossing complex was concluded at 7.5 million euros. The works were financed by the European Neighbourhood and Partnership Instrument (ENPI), the Estonian-Latvian-Russian cross-border cooperation program 2007-2013 and the Estonian state budget funds. The constructional works were performed by Oma Ehitaja Ltd.
